There are four properties at Westover Farm - we live in a converted barn,
our caretaker
couple, Bob and Barbara Allen, live in the second house. The Longhouse has
Gary and Andrew as tenants and the Linhay is our holiday house. Bob and
Barbara have two dogs, Gary and Andrew have two dogs and two cats, we have
three dogs, we also have two llamas, two
ponies, one cat and varying numbers of chickens and ducks.
In the summer, or when the weather is good, we tend to leave our front
door open so the dogs can wander about outside - our dogs are well
practised in the art of food scrounging from guests, so if you eat outside,
whether having a barbecue or simply sitting at the table in the garden, you
may need to be prepared to be joined by some visiting dogs, who will try and
persuade you that their cruel owners don’t feed them! Also, it is best not
to leave your own dog/s food down on the floor in the house, and your doors
open, because it won’t last long! Similarly, we are happy to have visitors
dogs wandering about, if you are happy for them to do that. We quite
regularly find a holidaying dog stretched out upstairs on our balcony with
our dogs.
Many of our guests return year after year, because they enjoy the
ambience of the place (and the visits from our dogs!). Even non dog owning
guests sometimes end up going out and buying dog biscuits to hand out,
despite my appeals to not feed the dogs too much!
