January
We decided to experience self catering from the other side, so had a
weekend away with the dogs in a little cottage in Cornwall - first time
experience for us and the dogs, we all enjoyed ourselves despite
mediocre weather, and experiencing one of the most windswept beach walks
I've ever had! I made sure I left the cottage really clean and tidy as
well!

February
Most of this month was dominated by ears - I suffered with a severe ear
infection, and Rosie's right ear decided to go walkabout (see photos on
news page), we think it has now settled on its final position!

March
What a beautiful month's weather, dry and spring like with lots of
sunshine, a real tonic after winter. After a few weeks' rest Rosie's ear
has gone up again, and now it looks like it's staying up! (Haven't put
an updated ear photo on news pictures because who knows what it will
look like next month ...)

April
The wonderful weather continued all month, really warm - just hope this
isn't the only summer we get! Our guests enjoyed the lovely weather, and
we were busy, getting things organised for our month away in May.

May
We decided to go to north Scotland, and went as far north as we could, without jumping
into the sea, and had a lovely month away, despite hardly wearing any of
the summer clothes we'd packed (the lovely weather didn't last!). The dogs had a great time as well, with
loads of new sights, smells and walks to enjoy. And I had a return trip
to my favourite book shop, Barter Books in Alnwick, a real treat. Sadly,
while we were away, Clover (one of our ponies) had to be put to sleep
due to her laminitis suddenly getting much worse-we were 650 miles away
when the crisis happened, Andrew and Bob at home were stars and dealt
with it all on my behalf, bless them.

June
Back to real life again, ho hum. However, it was really good to catch up
with friends and family, and to see how beautiful and summery everywhere
looks now, with hedgerows and fields in full flower.

July
Changeable weather, bit depressed by still needing to light the wood
burner some evenings! We had a weekend away in Marlow at my brother's
wedding, the day was perfect and we had a great time. Rosie now has a
perfectly symmetrical pair of ears, and they are finally staying in the
right place!

August
A fully booked summer so lots of lovely visiting dogs (and their
owners!). We had a week away with the dogs in the camper van in
Pembroke, Wales, which was fun - watching red kites being fed at an RSPB
reserve was a real highlight.

September
What extraordinary weather to end the month, hotter than most of the
summer, and how strange to sit outside, sweltering, while leaves fell
from the trees! No complaints though, it makes the winter season seem
shorter, which is always good. |
|
October
We had our last holiday of the year in the camper van, a week
just outside Tewkesbury. We stayed at a water park and had a pitch right
by the lake, so could enjoy watching people falling off windsurfers and
generally getting wet and cold! The weather was kind, dry and bright, so
we all had fun.

November
Winter's here, the weather's deteriorated, so everywhere is muddy, as is
usual for this time of year. Time to get the logs in, get the fire lit,
and get used to constantly towelling off wet and muddy dogs.

December
Best laid plans - huh! We both missed Christmas by developing norovirus
on Christmas Eve, so we both spent Christmas being ill. So all the
Christmas dinner ingredients are in the freezer, waiting for another
day!
Best wishes for a happy new
year to all our holidaymakers, and their dogs - wishing everyone a
peaceful and dogtastic 2012!
